Most dog owners are not aware of the fact that registration of dog is a must with local municipal authority. Since under section 399 of the Delhi Municipal Corporation Act, 1957 states that registration of domestic dog is must with the authorities otherwise MCD has the authority to even detain the dog if found in public place irrespective of the fact that the owner is accompanying.
Non-compliance of the law can attract challans and even prosecution of the dog owner. Moreover, the registration has to be renewed yearly.
Registration of your dog has a positive side to it – like in case of dog bites, the owner can avoid punishments and it can also help in case your dog is lost.

How to get your Dog registered?

Firstly, You would need to pay a nominal registration fee of INR 500/- (plus tax) online or physically at the local MCD office.

Secondly, You will have to present documents: Your proof of residency, Ownership documents of the Dog, Rabies Vaccination document and a picture of both of you together 🙂

Post these formalities, authorities will issue a Tag which will stay valid for one year after which it will have to be renewed.
